Born at Oconoomowoc WI, 28 Sep 1895. Son of James A. Blakeman, Darrington. Entered Camp Lewis 25 Jun 1918, and was assigned to the 30th Co., 166th D.B. On 16 Jul he was transferred to Camp Kearny and placed in Co. A, 158th Inf. He sailed from England 11 Aug, and landed in London 25 Aug. In France, he was transferred to Co. L, 111th Inf., 28th Div. On 16 Sep. He went into action in the Meuse-Argonne on 26 Sep and on the 28th. Received a gunshot wound. He was in hospital at Dijon, Bordeaux and Brest from 28 Sep to 29 Apr 1919, when he sailed for the U.S. He was sent to the hospital at Camp Lewis 10 May, and on 1 Jul was sent to the Letterman Hospital. He was still confined there on 30 Aug 1919.

Born 14 Jan 1888 at Argura NC. Son of Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Fortne of Argura NC. Entered the service 19 Sep 1917, at Camp Lewis and became a member of Co. A, 361st Inf., 91st Div. Left for France 23 Jun 1918. Arrived in France 17 Jul. Corporal, 5 Aug 1918. Went into action with his company in the Argonne-Meuse battle on 26 Sep and on the following day was severely wounded. A gunshot wound in the right arm and another in the right chest, which fractured the twelfth rib and came out on the eighth rib in the back, sent him to the hospital. It was not until 14 Jan 1919, that he was discharged from the hospital. Returned to the U.S. on 3 Jan 1919 and was discharged 8 Mar.
